Mental Health Hub - Jean's Bothy

Mental Health Hub - Jean's Bothy

We are creating a warm and welcoming community space in Jean's Bothy, which is a cottage at the heart of Helensburgh, for people who have mental ill health and are socially isolated. We are looking to provide a "reason to get up in the morning" for people affected by mental health issues. A members café will be central to the Bothy and people will be supported to access leisure and social activities.

Points

We know from research that 1 in 6 of us will experience poor mental health in our lifetime. We also know that loneliness is more detrimental to our health than smoking 15 cigarettes per day. Our aim is to improve the mental health of the people of Helensburgh and Lomond by providing the support and skills needed. Our vision is to help people live happier and healthier lives.

This is a much needed source of support for people affected by mental health issues in Helensburgh and Lomond as current provision is so limited.

Jean's Bothy will be a fantastic resource space for the community that have poor mental health issues, supporting them to develop skills needed through social activities and bringing resources to help people gain more knowledge and confidence.

What a wonderful resource to address some of the issues surrounding mental ill heath! A warm, safe and welcoming place where people can relax, socialise, learn new skills and support one another. Much needed in a community with limited resources.

This would be a fantastic resource for the people of Helensburgh and Lomond. Local mental health resources are very limited so this would be much needed for the local people and organisations/departments. Helping to reduce the numbers of people reaching crisis point and putting further strain on the limited resources available.

This is such an important resource for the Helensburgh area. We have so little provision in terms of mental health support- much less than other comparable areas, and this resource could potentially make a hugely positive impact on people's well beings.

This will be an amazing resource for those in need of mental health support within the Helensburgh & Lomond community.

There is a significant lack of resources for people experiencing mental ill health in the Helensburgh & Lomond area. Jean's Bothy will help bring people together and enable them to learn new skills and become a support for each other.

Jean's Bothy will provide a place where people with mental health illness can participate in their own recovery by socialising together in a safe and welcoming environment. It will transform the way we deal with mental illness and enable people with mental health difficulties to gain a sense of well being.

There are so few services available to support people living with mental illness in this area. This resource will be invaluable in providing a range of services to enable people to live more healthy and independent lives.

A really great service being developed and great team involved! All support vital for this important local initiative.

Argyll and Bute TSI will hold a drop in help session on Wednesday (10th January) from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm in the Helensburgh office at 14 Colquhoun Square. If you would like help with the stage 2 application pop in and see us (we will have a cuppa and biscuits on hand too...)
