Christian Felber - Economy for the Common Good

Christian Felber - Economy for the Common Good

What was the nature of their innovation and how did it contribute to humankind? Founder of the Economy for the Common Good, which advocates a more ethical economic model, in which the wellbeing of people and the environment become the ultimate goal of business. What constitutes the ‘common good’ is determined democratically by reference to four core ethical values: human dignity, solidarity and social justice, environmental sustainability, transparency and democratic co-determination. At the heart of the model are the Common Good Report and Balance Sheet. These are practical tools which enable any business, local authority or government to assess its contribution to the common good and to ensure benefit for all stakeholders.

Christian Felber has motivated me to start on a road for the common good with my business. This model of innovative economy combined with environmental issues and concern for the wellbeing of humans should transform our societies.

Christian Felber

economy for the common good is now the very best alternative for the oldschool economy system, which has droven us to this climate desaster! Lets go system change instead of climate change!

All the other practized economy models lack sucess according to nature, individual freedom, sustainability or social justice. This model at least points out what has been done to avoid these disadvantages and doesn´t wait for feedback given by the outside. Every goal finds it way into the accounting - worth giving him a big hand and giving this way of economic work a try in practize.

Christian has started an idea with the potential to transform economy into a way to serve both nature and mankind. In just nine years he has initiated a movement that has power to give companies and politicians new impetus. 160/5000 In a very short time, he has contributed more to the real development of the economy than most of the so-called Nobel Prize-winners for economics.

Christian Felber has already started so much. For me, the common good economy will change the world. We are not a niche but a utopia that will bring about this turnaround and everything came from this book. Christian Felber deserves this award for me.

The Economy for the Common Good and especially the balance as a pragmatic instrument provides a feasable way to change economy in a way, that everybody who wants to take responsbility can do something: consumers, employees, company owners .... There is no excuse any more for doing nothing! We all need the change!

Economy for the Common Good helps the climate and the human rights. It creates a positive impulse to ecological issues.

We can make market, public and commons economy, but now we have the opportunity to make them all converge into a common goal: the good of all ...and its precondition: a good environment.

Christian Felber offers a clear framework to redesign our economy so that it will finally serve the common good. The new metrics involve human dignitiy, social justice, environment, transparency and co-determination. Most of all he proposes clear feasible steps to reach this goal!

ECG stands for a democratic, sustainable and social economy. That is just that we need for now.

it requires special skills and a good deal of courage to design and teach the theory of an economic system and to enter the real laboratory of life and test it yourself, so that the theory is proven, adapted and improved. Thank you, the good life for all becomes the reality of many....Thank you, your work is an example for many and shows ways for many essential problems of our time.

The concept offers both, a strategy and a toolkit for organisational development towards a clearly human-oriented ethical economy. To me it sounds like a realistic chance to safeguard our living conditions. This outstanding idea is worth sharing over all countries.

We are on the road to climate catastrophe and our current economy keeps its foot on the accelerator. Christian Felber offers a clear way out of this, rechannelling the forces of the market by changing the metrics of succcess. Unusually for an economist, he is a charismatic communicator, inspiring a global movement.

Life is relationship - good life is good relationships. The ECONOMY FOR THE COMMON GOOD is an economic model in which good relations - the dignified treatment of the actors among themselves and with the environment - and thus the good life of all are at the centre of economic activities. This is precisely what the world needs most urgently. Christian Felber has made an outstanding contribution to the development of this economic model.

Christian has a positive, powerful message for societal transformation. He argues that a deeply democratic movement, consisting of constituents from all walks of life, working together with the business community, with politics, with other NGOs and with educational institutions, can co-create an economy where people and planet come before profits.

The Economy for the Common Good (ECG) tackles both social inequality and current insustainability by changing the incentives system and advocating for more and more participative democracy. Its three main aims are to change the focus from increasing financial profit to the pursue of the common good, change the method to achieve it from competition to cooperation between, and to curtail power imbalances.

Christian Felber Economy for the Common Good is a very practical and simple idea. It asks companies, communities and organizations with economic activities to explain their contribution to humanistic values. ECG is a game changer in the corporate world. Christian has written THE book about it and is the inventor of the concept. He is the prototype mixture of a thorough thinker combined with a political activist combined with an instructive speaker.

Today we are conductive to the economy. But the economy should be conductive to us! There is not much time left to change the economy in a way that it works for the wellbeing of people and the environment.

Christian is the voice of all who are thinking to change the world into a better place. These can find their abstract thoughts in a concrete vision.

The Economy for the Common Good is able to stop the exploitation of people and nature. It helps us to change our interactions from a competition-based treatment into a cooperation-based treatment.

The Common Good Balance Sheet is so much more than an index of a business's sustainability and ethical management performance. It provides a template for strategic change. I have run small, medium and large businesses over the last 30 years and the practical application of the ECG Balance sheet is impressive. I don't agree with everything that's in it but that's not the point. It's an ethical management toolbox from which appropriate operating strategies can be developed.

Christian Felber - Economy for the Common Good

The Economy for the Common Good is a concrete model in which everyone, from private persons, employees and managers in companies to local or national politicians, can directly contribute to a sustainable way of doing business and thereby shaping our common future.

we need a fair and transparent economy that serves people and respects the environment. The economy for the common good has developed an effective approach for this purpose - especially with the transformation instrument of the common good balance sheet

In an Economy for the Common Good, ethical, durable products, and services become mainstream; regional and local economic activity is stimulated; employment becomes more meaningful, rewarding and engaging; cooperation within and between businesses is promoted; income and wealth become more fairly distributed; the economy operates in harmony with, not to the detriment of, nature and the planet.

Felber instrumentalizes the notion that ‘the economy ‘ is here to serve democratically defined societal goals refuting the argument that the globalized economy and financial capitalism (necessarily) define the limits of a democratic society.

What could be more important than the future of the earth and of our children and grandchildren? Christian Felber and the Gemeinwohlkökonomie provide the right framework to make our world and economy fairer and more sustainable. Christian is not only the head, but an important ambassador of the Gemeinwohlkökonomie, which has the power to change the world.

With the Gemeinwohlökonomie (Economy for the Common Good) Christian Felber has developped a convincing concept of a new economy based on ethical and democratic principles and a realistc and pragmatic approach to realize sustainable production and trade. It aims at enhancing democracy, humanity and more solidarity in business. The Gemeinwohlökonomie can help to overcome the neoliberal - entirely profit-oriented - economy and make the world a better place.

In its emphasis on the core importance of deep democracy, the Economy for the Common Good moves politics back to the centre of the discussion about how our economies should work. This has never been more relevant than it is now: if all stakeholders in our economy cannot have their voices heard and influence decision making, we will never be able to effectively tackle the global crises we face.

Christian has a fabulous talent as a story-teller providing an inner truth we all know deep inside. Why the hell should society not follow our intrinsic knowledge and why should conomy not follow the rules that real sustainability sets?

In the current state of capitalistic system the "Economy of the Common Good" can be the only way to reform the economy in a realistic way. As never before the reform act is urgent for the whole world, because the ressources are running dry very fast.

Claus Gößling the ECG (Economy for the Common Good, german GWÖ) has been suggested by Christian Felber. This movement is growing steadily and more and more enterprises undergo every second year an analysis of their "ethical behaviour" in many different aspects. The result will be hopefully an economic system which is not only looking for its individual profit but also for the "common good" aspects of its activity. This will be for the best of the planet and mankind.

I can use Christian`s ideas as a basis for my practical political and economic work. It`s fascinating and reassuring to have a framework to work with on socio-ecological matters. It gives a new drive to my projects.
