Nancy Folbre

What was the nature of their innovation and how did it contribute to humankind? Nancy Folbre is well known for her work exploring the interrelations of feminist theory and political economy. She has investigated the economics of gender and families, and the importance of non-market production in economic and social development. Of importance is her work exploring the reasons why the work of parents, nurses, teachers, and others who provide “caring labor” is undervalued and underpaid, and how the situation could be remedied. She has also been a leader in promoting popular economic literacy. Already a recipient of the Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought, it would now be appropriate to honor her with a ‘Not the Nobel Award’.
