Richard (Dick) Nelson

Evolutionary economics, innovation, theory of firms, institutions, routines, and growth

Points

Dick Nelson's seminal work on technological change and contributions to changing economics began with An Evolutionary Theory of Economic Change (1982) written jointly with Sidney G. Winter. He has developed influential ideas for economics, drawing on a range of methods, including evolutionary approaches to growth, micro-level understanding of "routines" in organisations, both formalism and qualitative case studies in understanding innovation and on the complexity of market organisation.
