Cooperation Jackson

Cooperation Jackson

Building a solidarity economy in Jackson, Mississippi, anchored by a network of cooperatives and worker-owned, democratically self-managed enterprises. Cooperation Jackson’s basic theory of change is centered on the position that organizing and empowering the structurally under and unemployed sectors of the working class, particularly from Black and Latino communities, to build worker organized and owned cooperatives will be a catalyst for the democratization of our economy and society overall.

I have never been more inspired and hopeful about the work of an organisation before. Cooperation are building a solidarity from the ground up, based around sustainable local businesses that are run by workers. I've not seen anyone put into practice so many progressive economic ideas such as local supply chains and procurement and cooperatives alongside tackling bigger issues like racial injustice, land ownership, education and ecology.
