Renovation of Wivelsfield Church Hall

Renovation of Wivelsfield Church Hall

The tiled roof is in urgent need of refurbishment and the wooden floor must be replaced, as it is rotting. It is not an option to do nothing. Plans have been drawn up to renovate the building to bring it up to modern day standards, to include disabled toilet facilities and disabled access. Although the prize fund cannot pay for all of this work the money could be used to get at least something improved in the Church Hall.

Points

The Church Hall provides a smaller space than the Village Hall, ideal for meetings, parties and clubs. It would be madness to throw this away for the sake of necessary repairs.

If the hall is renovated it would then be in good order for our village community to use, including those who require wheelchair access.

By bringing the lower floor of the hall up to modern standards, with good kitchen facilities, the hall can be used by both the church and the wider community more regularly for a wide variety of meetings and other activities.

When renovated the church hall will be available for a range of community uses that will benefit all ages.

The Village Hall is struggling to meet demand. The Church Hall can complement this but access for people with mobility problems is vital as the Church Hall can currently only be accessed up a flight of steps.

A historical building should not be allowed to decay.

It would enable more people to use the hall and enjoy all activities. Disabled access to toilets, kitchen and hall required.

The roof is falling in and the floor is falling in. The Hall is in desperate need for redevelopment.
