Funding for Saturday Circles Club

Saturday Circles Club in Lewes, which is a group run for young adults with learning difficulties and provides support and respite for individuals, carers and families. Due to the recent withdrawal of local authority support the club is now entirely self-funding. Hopefully some of the winnings could be used to keep this service running.

Families who care for someone with a learning disability need a break occasionally to recharge their batteries, spend time focused on other children, do chores or simply have quiet meal. The members have the rare opportunity to be as independent as possible from their family and enjoy a day with their peers.

Lewes Circles Saturday Club is a bi-monthly friendship club which offers parents a chance to relax on a saturday and their adult children to meet with friends and enjoy social gatherings, outings, educational experiences in a friendly, safe club environment. Our funding has been cut and we risk losing this vital service.

I have been a volunteer at the Saturday circles club for over 15 years and have seen how it has help others with learning difficulties and their families. The Saturday circles club is a place where people with learning difficulties can go to meet friends, build relationship and support each other. I have dyspraxia and dyslexia and volunteering at Saturday circles has helped me become a more confident person. Saturday circles provides people with learning difficulties a place to social.
